— Who lived in the Milford Community House before it became a public library? Which historic figures are honored with stone carvings on the façade of Forest Hall? And what’s up with the funky décor on the exterior of Normandy Cottage?
A walking tour around downtown Milford on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 11 a.m., will answer these questions, and more. The tour leads to some of the places connected to the prominent Pinchot family, who helped shape the region beginning in the early 1800s.
Participants should meet on the lawn of the Milford Community House at the intersection of Broad and Harford streets. The one-hour stroll through the borough will illustrate how one family influenced the beginnings of the community.
Sturdy, comfortable footwear is recommended. Space is limited and pre-registration is strongly suggested by calling 570-296-9625 or sending an email to info@greytowers.org.
The tour is free and open to the public and will be held rain or shine. It is sponsored by the Grey Towers Heritage Association and the U.S. Forest Service.
