PPL hosts eagle-viewing tour

    Hydro provides environment for birds HAWLEY - Learn about the incredible comeback of the bald eagle in the Lake Wallenpaupack area and the role PPL’s hydroelectric dam played in the bird’s return at a program sponsored by the Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center on Saturday, Jan. 20. The Eagle Institute will lead the program, including an eagle discussion, their habitat and proper eagle-viewing etiquette. The program will begin at the center at 9 a.m. followed by a guided eagle-viewing tour of the Lackawaxen River that leaves from the center. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars. The fee for the tour is a $10 donation to the institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of bald eagles and other birds of prey and habitat conservation through education, research and public involvement.
