SereneScapes' at the Photo Guild

MILFORD The Highlands Photo Guild is pleased to welcome its newest member, Walter Oliver, whose exhibit “SereneScapes” will open with a reception on Saturday, April 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. “My search for calm in a chaotic world began after the attacks on the World Trade center swept me from my complacency and forced me to reevaluate my life. I shoot from an emotional center and typically without specific intent. This feeling manifests itself in simple but moody compositions of ordinary objects and locations. I print using muted colors that enhance the emotional expression of the work.” Oliver said. The SereneScapes collection of rural local landscapes incorporates many of these concepts, says Oliver. “Photography takes me away from the chaos. It is how I contribute to a more positive world and at the same time create my own sense of well-being.” SereneScapes will be on view through May 2. The Highlands Photographic Guild at 224 Broad Street (Wachovia Bank Building) is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. More information about the gallery, its members or the current exhibit can be found at www.highlandsphotoguild.com or by calling 570-296-2440 during gallery hours.
