Special events mark arts group 30th year

    Narrowsburg, N.Y. - The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance continues its annual Writers Among Us literary series into Summer with several 30th anniversary celebration events. The first is “Writing As Art,” featuring a panel of three local authors presenting their works through readings and open audience discussions. “Writing as Art” will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Delaware Arts Center in Narrowsburg. Panelists include Paul Vazquez, poet/artist of “From Irony to Laughter,” a book of poetry and art of an immediate and historical nature; Dr. Rafael Achecar, author of “The Fear of Not Finding Your Footsteps,” a short story in poetic prose in both Spanish and English; and Jean Kelton, author of five previous works of poetry and short fiction, who is currently penning her sixth work, “The New Kend Grun”. Each will offer a selected reading or short presentation. Additionally, in following with the event’s theme, audience participation is encouraged in an open question and answer session with directed focus toward the inspirations, artistic endeavors, practices, and implementations that bring each of these very diverse authors to the page. The Delaware Arts Center is located on 37 Main Street in Narrowsburg, NY. This event will be hosted in the Gloria Krause Recital Hall (handicap-accessible) at 7:30 p.m. A suggested donation of $3 is requested to benefit the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. Books will be available for purchase and signing by the authors throughout the event. Upcoming events from this series include “From Irony to Laughter,” a reading with projected images of the work of Paul Vazquez on July 15 at the Delaware Arts Center; a lecture/reading by Irwin Richman author of Borscht Belt Bungalows on July 15 at Sullivan Co.
