PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — On Sunday, Aug. 16, at 3 p.m., historian Peter Osborne will present Stephen Crane Remembered, a slide show which looks at the life of Stephen Crane in the context of the Tri-State region, where he lived a significant part of his life. It will be held at Port Java, 19 Front Street, Port Jervis, N.Y. This is a free event, presented by the Port Jervis Council for the Arts, Port Java, and the Pienpack Company. Stephen Crane was the author of The “Red Badge of Courage,” an important 19th century novel. Additionally, he wrote what later became known as the “Sullivan County Tales and Sketches,” and “The Monster,” which scholars believe was written about Port Jervis. He was widely traveled and considered one of the finest writers of his generation. For further information please call 845-858-4500.
