'Sunday Soirees' coming to the Columns
MILFORD — Some talented musicians are helping the Columns Museum keep the snow shoveled and the lights on.
In February, the Columns Museum will present two "Sunday Soirees," featuring the Ronny Whyte Trio on Feb. 19 and Patricia Durante singing from the Great American Songbook on Feb. 26.
The soirees will raise funds for upkeep and maintenance of the museum, housed in a 1904 neo-classical manse on Broad Street in Milford. Funds will be set aside for things like snow removal, minor repairs, heat, and electricity.
"The winter months can be costly, so we hope to raise some money to help with those expenses," said Lori Strelecki, museum director. "We believe these soirees are a nice way to do just that, and we're thankful to have such talented folks willing to help our cause."
All that jazzJazz pianist Ronny Whyte will take the stage with Boots Maleson and Sean Harkness on Feb. 19. Whyte is considered a premiere interpreter of classic American popular song and is an award-winning songwriter.
On Feb. 26 Patricia Durante will sing Patsy Cline numbers from out of the Great American Songbook. She will be accompanied by Tim Metz and Regan Ryzuk.
Doors open at 4 p.m. Wine and cheese is included in the $30 ticket ($50 for both shows).
The performances will take place in the museum's Foundation Room Lounge, which Strelecki says is "certainly an appropriate setting, as the Ink Spots played the room when it was called 'The Cellar' in the early 1960s.
