— Tennessee Williams's "This Property Is Condemned," a one-act play that takes place on a stretch of railroad track in a whistle-stop town in Louisiana, is coming to the Dimmick Inn in August.
Willy finds Tom on the tracks while trying to break her own record of continuous balance. The play is written for actors ages 13 and 17.
The production is by the Side of the Road Company, which says it's "thrilled to use actors the age of the characters. Considered to be one of Tennessee Williams most charming and difficult one acts because it's written for children, it is rarely seen with actors the appropriate age."
Beth Kelley has cast a high school student, Brooke Greening, as Willy, and a college student, Kris Tjornhom, as Tom.
"The talent of these two young people is thrilling to find," says Kelley. "I've wanted to do this play for so long with the appropriately aged children, and to find them here in Milford is extraordinary. We have so much talent in our little borough."
This classic American playwright's work will be Side of the Road's first venture with the Dimmick Inn. In addition to the play, several of Kelley's acting students and company members will perform monologues.
Side of the Road Company offers an acting class starting Thursday, Sept. 7, also at the Dimmick Inn. Space is limited to 10. Registration is required. For information call Kelley at 570-296-8325.
