Tenor Stig Rossen at Wildflower

The Danish star of Les Miserables sings Aug. 8 WHITE MILLS World-renowned Danish actor and vocalist will perform a program spanning the gamut between popular and Broadway favorites at the Wildflower Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 8. The concert begins at 6 p.m. Stig Rossen first came to fame when he assumed the lead role of Jean Valjean in the musical Les Misérables. This dream role would later take him around the world. Today, he has played the part of Jean Valjean almost 2,000 times in seven different countries. With a powerful yet eloquent voice, Stig Rossen’s musical virtuosity spans many genres, including musical theater, popular music, gospel, and timeless standards. Since 1988, Stig has released 11 solo albums selling more than one million copies around the world. His talented tenor voice can be heard as the Danish version of Disney’s Mulan, Lilo, Stitch and Tarzan. He has appeared in numerous television specials around the world, including the recent PBS special “This is The Moment.” This Wildflower performance is sponsored by Jim and Bette Asselstine. General admission tickets are $20, students 6 to 18 years are $10. There is no charge for children under six. The general admission performance begins at 6 p.m. at the Wildflower Amphitheater on the grounds of the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary in White Mills, between Hawley and Honesdale. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and pack a picnic to enjoy the pristine setting. Light beverages will be for sale on the Sanctuary grounds. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held at the air-conditioned auditorium at the Wallenpaupack Area High School. The last concert in the 2009 Wildflower concert series on Saturday, Aug. 15 is the contemporary bluegrass group Steep Canyon Rangers. All performers and programs are subject to change.
