MILFORD — Come celebrate our nation’s birthday on July 4, as the US Forest Service offers free guided tours of Grey Towers National Historic Site in Milford. The Forest Service will waive the tour fees for the day as a way to commemorate Independence Day and to bring attention to the national role that Grey Towers and the Pinchot family played in the introduction of natural resource conservation to America. The tours are offered on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and bring visitors through the first floor and the gardens of the estate. The 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. tours bring visitors to all three floors of the mansion. Tour guides offer a unique insight into the conservation contributions made by the Pinchot family, and how they utilized the Grey Towers estate as their family home until 1963, when it was donated to the Forest Service. For more information call Grey Towers at 570-296-9630 or send an email to greytowers@fs.fed.us. The website is www.fs.fed.us/gt.
