Early Film Institute at Neversink Valley Museum CUDDEBACKVILLE, N.Y. — On Wednesday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m., the Neversink Valley Area Museum’s Institute for Early Film Studies presents a look at one of America’s most popular directors, Cecil B. deMille. DeMille, known as “the voice of God” for his narration of his 1956 film of “The Ten Commandments,” directed his first film in 1914, but he came to Cudddebackville in Orange County before then to learn the art of film making from D.W. Griffith. Director of the Institute for Early Film Studies, Seth Goldman, will tell the story of DeMille’s life and achievements as director, producer and even actor, and show DeMille’s work from the silents through the extravaganzas for which he is most well-known. Refreshments, sponsored by Price Chopper of Matamoras, will be served. This event will be held at the D & H Canal Park Visitor’s Center, 58 Hoag Road, (just off US Route 209) Cuddebackville, N.Y. Admission is $5. The museum is open Friday through Sunday; call 754-8870 or visit: www.neversinkmuseum.org.
