MILFORD — Horses need a dentist? “I didn’t know that!”, exclaimed a visitor to the GAIT Horse-A-Fair last year. What does a farrier do at GAIT? How often does the Veterinarian come to GAIT? How are horses selected and trained to provide therapeutic results to riders with special needs? Who can participate in the programs at GAIT? How can I help the GAIT organization? All these questions and more will be answered at the GAIT Horse-A-Fair on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 3 to 7 p.m., rain or shine! Everyone is invited to see the GAIT facility which is a Premier Accredited Center with NARHA, an international global authority in the field of Equine Assistive Activities and Therapies. GAIT is located at 314 Foster Hill Road in Milford (turn on 7th Street going toward Malibu Ranch - 7th Street becomes Foster Hill Road). Come to see the horses. Learn how to horses are selected and trained. Enjoy the horses at work with their special needs riders. The indoor arena will be open for all to see the “Activity corner”, the educational portion of therapeutic riding and to experience the “Arena exercises and games”. There will be free food, free games and activities?including a scavenger hunt with prizes. Also, there will be a 50/50 drawing throughout the event. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the front gate and throughout the facility.
