Trans-Siberian Orchestra musician to perform

| 19 Feb 2013 | 05:42

Jane Mangini of Pike County is a musician who has been touring with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) for 12 years. Mangini is originally from Florida and moved to New York to compose commercials.

She will be teaming up with songstress Terri Dixon and drummer Sandy Bookie to perform at this year’s Winter Wednesdays music series, hosted by The Columns Museum, on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 and include wine and cheese served at your table in the intimate cabaret setting of The Foundation Room of the museum. Call 570-296-8126 to reserve.

Mangini purchased a weekend home in rural Pike County and eventually made the move more permanent, finding Pike County a place where she could enjoy the serenity of lakefront living while still working for Bang Music, sans the hustle and bustle of city life.

Her most recent tour with Trans-Siberian Orchestra included all the West Coast venues. With more than 7 million albums sold TSO has inspired generations of fans to rediscover the multi-dimensional art form of the rock opera.

Mangini began playing music on a toy piano given to her by her grandfather. In her own words, she “tortured her parents playing that toy piano until they finally bought her a real one.” Although she has taken a few lessons here and there, her playing prowess can be attributed to her keen ear for music, a self-taught marvel for certain. Mangini names The Allman Brothers Band as a musical influence and is a humble and likable sort with a great sense of humor. She enjoys her life and the people in it.

The PCHS’s Columns Museum is located at 608 Broad Street in Milford, Penn., and is open Wednesdays, Friday 6 to 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information visit pikecountyhistoricalsociety.org.
