Trischka - Vignola in concert

Acoustic strings at the historic Tusten Theatre NARROWSBURG, N.Y. Stellar string players Tony Trischka (banjo) and Frank Vignola (guitar) perform together at the Tusten Theatre on Saturday, May 29 at 8 p.m. It is not enough to say that award-winning Tony Trischka is the teacher of one of the most in-demand banjo artists on the contemporary music scene today, Bela Fleck; that he has been called back several times to the David Letterman Show to perform before a national television audience; or that he is presently the teacher of a new rising banjo star on the concert circuit: musician, comedian, movie star, Steve Martin. A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Trischka’s interest in banjo was sparked by the Kingston Trio’s “Charlie and the MTA” in 1963. Two years later, he joined the Down City Ramblers, where he remained through 1971. Today he is one of the most recorded artists in the music genre known as roots.’ On May 29, Trischka shares the stage with Warwick, N.Y. resident and accomplished guitarist Frank Vignola, one of the most multi-dimensional players working today. Vignola plays proficiently in every genre, from jazz to bluegrass. He recently sold-out the Pavilion of the Lycian Performing Arts Center with his tour de force critically acclaimed group, Hot Club, in a 100th Anniversary Salute to Django Reinhardt. Tusten Theatre audiences may recall he played in 2009 with jazz master Bucky Pizzarelli. Tickets are $22. DVAA members receive a $2 discount on advance sales.
