Two unhappy widows, one drunken gambler, and lots of laughs

MILFORD — You’re never too old to fall head over heels in love — or lust.
That’s the theme of the play “Bermuda Avenue Triangle,” an outrageous romantic comedy produced for the Milford Theatre by Tonylou Productions.
Jewish Fanny and Italian Tess are two chronically unhappy widows whose well-meaning daughters move them from New York City to a retirement village in Las Vegas. There the widows meet Johnny, a drunken gambler who’s short on cash but long on charm. The ladies allow him to sleep it off on their living room floor, and he manages to sweet talk his way into both their beds. When they realize they’re sharing him, sparks fly. In spite of his personal failings, gigolo Johnny gives Tess and Fanny a new lease on life.
This Broadway-performed comedy was written by Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna, authors of “Lovers and Others Strangers.”
The play stars Tony Schwartz as Johnny Paolucci, Veronica Deisler as Fanny Saperstein, Marylou Ambrose as Tess La Ruffa, Randy Hennig as Rabbi Jeffrey Levine, Kerry Brazen as Rita Gangi, and Kelly Ann Walsh as Angela Bruno.
The play is produced by Tonylou Productions, located in the Lake Wallenpaupack area. Tonylou’s sister company, The Lakeside Players, has produced award-winning plays since 1999. Tonylou is the house production company for daytime bus trips at The Waterfront at Silver Birches (formerly Ehrhardt’s) from March to November. The company has also performed at Shawnee Playhouse, Lakeville Community Hall, Woodloch Springs, the Radisson Hotel in Scranton, and many other venues.
Tonylou’s founders, Tony Schwartz and Marylou Ambrose, have written a dozen murder mysteries and six full-length plays, which have been performed in 49 states and 14 foreign countries, and their full-length comedies have premiered at Silver Birches over the past six years.
