MILFORD The Autumn into Winter workshops will continue to be held at the Emerson House of the Hotel Fauchere on Broad Street in Milford. All workshops include the delightful hospitality of the Hotel including morning delicacies, lunch and all day beverage service beginning at 9:30 a.m., until about 3 p.m. Reservations and prepayment are required to secure your place for all workshops and a one-week cancellation is required for refund requests. Upcoming Saturday, Aug. 15 Needle felted Silk Scarf; learning to do this will take 5 minutes, creating the design that works for you a bit longer; but participants choose the kit; workshop fee of $65 includes felting needle tool, felting pad and instruction. Great holiday gift; no knowledge of knit or crochet is required. Come early to get the color of choice- there are only 12 kits from which to choose. Saturday, Sept. 12 A Sweater Begins: For those who really want to know everything about sweater construction, gauge and finishing. Two-part workshop. The pattern from Judith Shangold allows participants the choice of which yarn they’d like to knit with. After this class participants will not be afraid of sweater patterns and will be an expert at sweater finishing. The sweater will begin on this day, participants will come back on Jan. 23 to do the finishing. A workshop fee of $130 covers both days, pattern, instruction (and all the encouragement needed in-between) as well as seaming clips, etc. for the finishing part of this workshop; This workshop is especially good for the beginner knitter who really wants to learn the right way (from the start) of how to approach sweater design and construction. Saturday, Sept. 19 Beaded Diagonal Scarf: This one knit on the diagonal with beads; this is a weekend project and a ideal gifting option for the holiday; or just for you; workshop fee of $50 includes pattern and instruction; take a look at the model in the store; which color will you choose? Saturday, Sept. 26, Oak Leaves; and no raking! This workshop was inspired by Marie Mayhew’s fabulous patterns; and this one with oak leaves and acorns is one of her best; think of these for a table-scape, or as the perfect hostess gift if you’re not cooking the turkey this year; $50 workshop fee includes the pattern for both oak leaves and acorns; and in different sizes, too..
