Narrowsburg, N.Y. — “Horse Play,” a collection of horse photos by renowned photographer Sarah Van Ouwerkerk is being shown through Jan. 23, at the River Gallery. Sarah van Ouwerkerk is a remarkably talented photographer whose eye and camera stray from representational images to capture subtle moments and movements which most of us never see. She has a unique interpretation of the horse. Van Ouwerkerk is a New Yorker living in Manhattan and Lake Huntington, N.Y. “I see things as landscapes. It’s where I began as a photographer. It’s what I left as a girl in Wisconsin, and how I explore the way things look. The horse is a subject matter that exists as its own landscape, and one that has given me immeasurable insight. Grace and power go hand and hand with these creatures. I can’t imagine life without them,” the photographer said. River Gallery is located at 8 Main Street, Narrowsburg. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Call 845-252-3238 or visit www.rivergalleryny.com.
