Water Works' at Highlands Photo Guild

MILFORD n David Ruskin’s “Water Works” is the featured exhibit at the Highlands Photographic Guild from July 14 through Aug. 5. Ruskin’s hand-colored, sepia-toned, black & white photographs present lyrical images of water in many forms and moodsoceans, ponds, lakes and, yes, puddles. At a time that digital photography is taking hold, David’s work hearkens back to techniques of the late 19th/early 20th century, before the advent of color film. He says, “Hand-coloring produces a very different effect from color photography, more subtle and painterly.” The Highlands Photographic Guild is located at 224 Broad Street in Milford, in the Wachovia Bank Building. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, and until 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, for Milford’s monthly “Art After Dark” fest. The Highlands Photographic Guild is a ten-member cooperative of photographic artists. For information, call 570-296-2440 or go to www.highlandsphotoguild.com .
