Milford — Reserve your tickets for the coolest event of the summer - it’s time for Milford Enhancement Committee’s Welcome Party. This year, the event is going to be held at the coveted home of Lee and Sonda Miller - The Governor’s Retreat - in Dingmans Ferry, on Saturday, June 21 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event, featuring live music by the Booglerizers, will include food from the area’s great restaurants including Balch’s Fish Fry, the Hotel Fauchere, Laurel Villa Country Inn and Restaurant, Dawny’s Soup Creations, Mr. Spanky’s BBQ and Grille, Mt. Haven Resort and Restaurant and the Muir House. Cocktails and vibrant conversation will accompany the delectable food and the annual silent auction. Local retailers, artists and other businesses came together to offer an eclectic group of items for this year’s auction. A couple of the larger items include, surround sound speaker from Altec, a glass sculpture by Elisa Ferrancane, and overnight stays at Woodloch Pines. This year the committee has also brought back the goodie bag, which is loaded with goodies and surprises for each of the attendees. The Welcome Party main sponsor this year is Community Rental Centers, which is responsible for the beautiful site set-up, including tents, tables, chairs, linens and many of the décor items for the event. Some new faces this year have stepped up to help support the event including Newton Memorial Hospital/Milford Health and Wellness Center and Thompson Creative, while Biondo Investment Advisors, Davis R. Chant and Woodloch Pines continue to be staple sponsors. The Governor’s Retreat, a picturesque wooded property along the Dingmans Creek, was built in 1906 and named in honor of William C. Sproul, the home’s designer and Pennsylvania’s governor from 1919 to 1923. The Miller home makes the perfect setting for one of the most enjoyable and well-attended social events of Pike County’s summer season. Proceeds help fund the Milford Enhancement Committee’s on-going streetscape improvement work, including landscaping, sidewalks, curbs and historic-style pedestrian lighting. The Welcome Party is organized by several co-chairs— Deanne Connelly, Amy Eisenberg, Katrina Foster, Will Foster, Arnold Green, Elena Quinn and Lori Strelecki — as well as a Host Committee, which is presently in formation. Tickets are only $50 per person and are by reservation only. Call or email Katrina Foster at 570-296-2333 or Katrina@KConceptualKreations.com or go online at www.milfordpa.us/mec to purchase tickets, join the Host Committee or for more information.
