Who gets grandma's yellow pie plate?
MILFORD Grandma had three daughters and two sons. She knew she should make plans to pass on her household property, but she died before she put a plan together to divide her family belongings. Personal property transfer is an issue often ignored until a crisis occurs or a situation forces family members to decide. Many look at this division of property as unimportant or as an issue that will take care of itself but from experience many know this is not true. A workshop, sponsored by the Pike County Cooperative Extension will help individuals, couples and families with the transfer of non-titled family possessions, whether it is Grandma’s yellow pie plate, the oak dining, table, dad’s cuff links, or the family photo album. The workshop, which will focus on understanding personal possession transfer, how to initiate discussions about sensitive issues, determining what fair means, and analyzing distribution options, will be held on Tuesday Oct. 27, in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room in the Pike County Administration Bldg., 506 Broad St., Milford, from 6-8:30 p.m. The program is free but registration is required.
