— The theme for Milford’s 8th annual Winter Lights Festival is "A Hot Time in Winter Time."

But first, a Mother Nature alert: Warm weather may cancel ice events at Ann Street Park on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23 and 24.

Beginning on Friday evening, Jan. 22, Milford’s Historical Society will hold its annual winter pasta dinner and movie, with a 1920s theme, at The Columns on 608 Broad St., followed on Saturday, if the weather allows, non-stop indoor and outdoor events throughout the day and evening:

10:30-11 a.m. — A free children’s theater presentation of the “Tale of the Monkey” highlighting the upcoming Chinese New Year, which is the year of the Monkey, with Chinese musical instruments, martial arts and calligraphy. Pike County Public Library, downstairs in the Community Room.

11 a.m.-2 p.m. — Mac ‘N Cheese and Chili Contest at the Dimmick Inn: $5 tasting ballot per person, featuring recipes by Milford’s Restaurants and Home Chefs, with awards presented, followed by:

2-3 p.m. — Zumba dancing warmup, followed by the Frozen Feet Theater Ice Show, and concluding with Nina Simone’s Sinnerman.

3-5 p.m. — Public skating on the village green from 5:15 to 8:30, torch lights skating. While across the street:

8-10:30 p.m. — Milford’s New Orleans Jazz Festival with Bayou Brew, a six-piece Cajun/Zydeco/bluegrass blues band at the Good Shepherd Church (Requested donation: $5 per person)

Sunday, Jan. 24 (weather date):

2-3 p.m. — Zumba dancing
3-5 p.m. — Public skating

3:30-4:30 p.m. — Family fun with The Bond Street Theater, a stilt walking marching band, clowns and jazz at the Good Shepherd Church. (Requested donation: $5 per person; children under 7, free)

'Blood in the Sand'
The Dimmick Inn, the Hotel Fauchere and the Apple Valley restaurants will offer a themed drink. A popular repeat drink from last year will be Apple Valley's "Blood in the Sand" based on the legendary Valentino film.
