Matamoras candlelight remembrance ceremony on Sept. 11
Matamoras. Matamoras officials are planning a remembrance ceremony for Sept. 11, which will likely resemble their past remembrances.

A Remembrance Ceremony is planned for Veterans Memorial Park and Education Center in Matamoras on Sunday, September 11, at 7 p.m. They expect to follow their past protocol and have the Broom Street Band play, then presentation of arms by the American Legion and a welcome by Mayor Janet Clark. An opening prayer, a speaker and music by the Hope Church choir will likely follow, as will candles for the candle lighting.
Matamoras Fire Department may bring the large flag that hangs from the fire truck. A closing prayer and taps will conclude the event. We are finalizing the program but this is what we have done in past years. Audrey
Veterans Memorial Park and Education Center in Matamoras is located off I-84, Exit 53,behind the football field. Bring a lawn chair.
