Warwick Cross Country opens season competing with Monroe-Woodbury

Warwick. Monroe-Woodbury came out ahead in both Varsity and Junior Varsity, but JV’s Hank Wendell and Jake Tannar, placed 2nd and 4th, respectively.

Warwick Boys Varsity Cross Country team opened their season competing at the Crusader Classic hosted by Monroe-Woodbury. The team competed in two races, a Varsity 2.5 mile race and a 1.8 mile Junior Varsity race on Friday, September 2. The team of 28 boys includes 16 freshmen.

The varsity race was led by juniors Conrad Wendell and Collin Freet, who placed 35th and 39th respectively. Junior varsity was led by four freshmen--Jackson Spivak, RJ Dovico, Hank Wendell and Jake Tannar, who placed 2nd, 4th, 9th, and 12th in the 100-person field to lead the Purple Wave to a 2nd place team finish.

The team next competes at home in the WaveMania Invitational on Saturday, September 10, at 8:41 a.m., where the team will host 35 schools and over 800 runners.
