— Members of Commonwealth Health EMS gave first aid and CPR/AED training to the Civil Air Patrol Scranton Composite Squadron 201.

EMTs June Ejk and Ron Kochmer were the instructors for the biannual training as part of the CAP Emergency Services program.

Senior members and cadets both received the training, which is required to maintain their qualifications as Ground Team members, who never know what they will encounter in the field and must be qualified to handle any situation.

The CAP members were trained in the proper way to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of a automated external defibrillator (AED).

Emergency Services is the portion of the CAP mission that performs Search and Rescue of downed aircraft and local disaster response . CAP members are required to have certifications in first aid, radio communications, aircraft ground handling as well as search and rescue techniques. Squadron 201 also opened the CPR training to member's families as a additional benefit to the community.

The Scranton Composite Squadron 201 meets at 7 p.m. every Monday evening at the Lackawanna Public Service Center, 30 Valley View Drive, Jessup, Pa. For membership information email Capt. McCormick at amccormick319@gmail.com.
