Keystone Club celebrates 40th anniversary
MATAMORAS The Keystone Community Club of Matamoras and Westfall Township, recently celebrated their 40th anniversary of service to the two communities. This event was held on Dec. 2, at Balch’s Restaurant in Milford. The club was formed in 1969 by a group of nonpartisan women, who saw a need to do good works in the beautification of the town and to provide a positive atmosphere for their children. Club members accomplished these goals by their many fundraisers held in the past. They have sponsored scholarships for Delaware Valley graduates, sponsored Memorial Day parades, Halloween Day parades, Christmas tree lighting ceremonies, planted flowering pear trees along Pennsylvania Avenue, and provided flags for display along Pennsylvania Avenue. Currently, they are assisting the Revitalization Committee to help pay for the new Christmas wreaths along Pennsylvania Avenue. The Keystone Club meets 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in the Matamoras Borough Hall. The club always welcomes new members, new ideas, and new friends to continue serving the community. Call Helen Gassmann at 570-491-4003 if you need more information about the club.
