Alexander 'Sandy' Simpson Dewar Sr.
Alexander “Sandy” Simpson Dewar Sr. of Matamoras, Pa., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving children. He was 84.
Son of the late William Dewar and Nellie McPherson McGregor Grant Dewar, he was born in Perth, Scotland, on Nov. 26, 1934. He was married to the late Santina “Tina” M. (Cucco) Dewar on April 16, 1967, at Church of St. Frances of Rome in Bronx. N.Y.
Sandy was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church. He served in the British Armed Forces Paratrooper and Merchant Navy.
He was a retired chief lineman of Con Edison Bronx, N.Y.
Sandy leaves behind his son Alexander S. Dewar Jr.; daughters, Bonnie Bradley, Laura Merola, and Heather Elabdouni; grandchildren, Pauline Hazzard, Taylor Bradley, Fiona Dewar, Gavin Bradley, Sophia Merola, Julianna Dewar, Santino Merola, Catherine Bradley, and Nate Elabdouni; sisters-in-law, Delores Fusco and Mary Valente; and two of his 16 siblings, Dot Halliburton and Sheila MacPherson, living in Scotland.
He was predeceased by his son William L. Dewar.
Friends may call at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, Pa., on Saturday, Dec. 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Luana Cook Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Delaware Cemetery, Dingmans Ferry, Pa.
