Carol Luna
Carol Jane Luna died on Sunday, June 17, 2012 with her family by her side. She was 74.
Daughter of Robert and Helen (Conklin) Clark, she was born in Wantage Township, N.J., on May 29, 1938. She was a lifelong resident of Sussex County, having lived in Sussex Borough since 1956.
Mrs. Luna had worked for Farmers National Bank and then for Newton Country Club for 11 years, where she was a chef. Along with her husband she later retired as co-owner of Franklin Glass Co. in Franklin, N.J.
She was a volunteer at the former Alexander Linn Hospital (St. Clares) in Sussex, was a member of the Tri-State Womens Investment Club and was an election poll volunteer in Sussex. She was a parishioner and Pre-Cana Instructor at St. Monicas RC Church in Sussex as well as a member of the Helping Hand Organization at the church. Mrs. Luna was also a member of the Wesleyan Bible Study Group in Sussex.
A family statement reads: She loved to clean house, enjoyed the beach, especially spending time in Myrtle Beach and loved The Gaithers music.
Her brother, Robert Clark died the same day she did. She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Quinn and a grandson Curtis Rohel. She is survived by her husband Joseph A. Luna Sr.; children, Joseph A. Luna Jr. and his wife Cindy of Dingmans Ferry, Cynthia A. Rohel and her husband Roy of Branchville, N.J., Mary Rowan and her husband Harold of Branchville, N.J., Lisa Haggerty and her husband Scott of Wantage and Jennifer Kemble and her husband Jeffrey of Holden, Mass.; sisters, Marilyn Martin of Norfolk, Va., Gloria Hill of Augusta, N.J., and Audrey Bootsma of Mt. Holly, N.J., as well as 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21 at 9:15 a.m. from Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sussex to St. Monicas RC Church, Sussex for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Branchville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
