Frank G. Celestina
Frank G. Celestina of Milford, Pa., died on Friday, July 22, 2016, at Milford Senior Care, Milford. He was 83.
Son of Anthony and Christina Pisano Celestina, he was born on March 28, 1933, in Staten Island, N.Y.
He proudly served our country from 1955-1966 in the U.S. Navy. He worked as police officer for New York City, and then as a New York City firefighter in Staten Island. He was a member of the Uniform Fireman’s Association, Local 94. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Matamoras, Pa.
He was an avid golfer and a member of the Port Jervis Country Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors.
He married Helen “Mickey” Purcell Celestina, who survives at home. He is also survived by his three sons, Anthony Celestina of Bethlehem, Pa., Harold “Duke” Celestina of Ester, Alaska, and Shane Cady and his wife, Dawn, of Matamoras, Pa., three daughters, Candice Smth and her husband, Gregory, of Westboro, Wis., Lynn Nelson of West Yellowstone, Mont., and Bridget Celestina of Leighton, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews,; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Richard and Mary Codichini of Matamoras, Pa.
He was pre-deceased by his brother Gerald Celestina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Matamoras, Pa., with the Rev. Alfred Vito as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis, N.Y.
