    Harriet E. Smith of Milford, Pa., died on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at Homestead Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center in Newton, N.J. She was 89.

    Daughter of the late Harry Henry and Helen E. (Heater) Williams, she was born July 5, 1926, in Morristown, N.J.

    She was married to the late Richard Smith on Jan. 28, 1950, at Drew Methodist Church in Port Jervis. He predeceased her on Oct. 9, 2001.

    She was a retired assembler at Kolmar Laboratories in Port Jervis, N.Y., and worked for many years as a waitress at the Milford Diner, Milford. She belonged to many organizations and groups over her 89 years. The nearest to her heart was being a 60-year member of the Milford United Methodist Church; a loyal and dedicated member of the Order of Eastern Star, joining Milford Chapter #494 in February 1964, Milford, affiliating with North Taft Chapter #446 in 1981, which consolidated into River Valley Chapter #33 in 1989, Port Jervis; a member of Laurel Court, Order of Amaranth in Port Jervis; a member of The River Valley Red Hatters; and a member of Harriet Green Chapter #198 in Hamlin, Pa. Survivors include two sons, Matthew E. Smith and wife, Donna, of Lake Charles, La., and Mark D. Smith and wife, Karen, of Matamoras; daughter, Mia K. (Smith) Fleming and husband, Gordon, of Milford; seven grandchildren, Tracy M. (Smith) Plante and husband, Edward, of Hoboken, N.J., and Nicole K. (Smith) Menard of Lake Charles, La.; Andrea (Teter) Mills and husband, Jason, of Milford, Chelsea L. Fleming and partner, Luke Stanton, of Scranton, Jonathan R. Fleming and partner, Natasha Grimila, of Westfall Township, Pa., Michael P. Smith of Milford, and Megan K. Smith of Matamoras, Pa.; five great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Madison Menard of Lake Charles, La., Rachel Grace Smith of Milford, Lauren Michelle Plante of Hoboken, N.J., and Lucca James Mills of Milford; sister-in-law, JoAnn Williams of Newton, N.J.; brother-in-law, William Sadler of Sun City, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

    She was predeceased by a son, John R. Smith, on Oct. 2, 2012; three brothers, Ludwig (James), Walter, and Eugene Williams; and a sister, Oriole (Williams) Kingston.

    A memorial service was held at the Milford United Methodist Church on Dec. 19. Burial at Milford Cemetery was private at the convenience of the family.
