James D. Snyder, 91, of Matamoras, PA, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He retired as owner and operator of Snyder Tree Service, Milford, Pa. Jim was a past Supervisor for Milford, Township, PA, member of the Hope Evangelical Free Church, Matamoras, PA, and a U.S. Army serving from 1950 to 1952.
The son of the late Simon and Minnie (Scally) Snyder, he was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Port Jervis, NY. He was married to the late Shirley Jean (Broadhead) Snyder.
Jim is survived by his son, Dale Snyder (Rita); daughter, Terry Hardick; grandchildren: Aaron, Brandon, Eric, Melissa, Rebecca, Kyle, Dale, Chad, Christine, John; 21 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three brothers Vincent Snyder (Pat), Thomas Snyder (Gladys), Willie Snyder (Janet) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James Snyder, grandchildren, Darwyn and Tanya, and two sisters, Mary and Eileen.
A viewing will be held at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Butch Gilpin officiating. Burial will follow in Milford Cemetery, Dingman Township, PA with military honors.
