James T. Quick
James T. Quick of Shohola, Pa., formerly of Port Jervis, N.Y., died July 25, 2017, at Middletown, N.Y., surrounded by his loving family. He was 70.
Son of Everitt and Grace Montgomery Quick, he was born on Nov. 16, 1946, in Port Jervis.
He proudly served during the Vietnam War with the US Air Force. He retired as a shipper-receiver after 40 years of service with numerous railroad companies, the last being Norfolk Southern Railroad, Jersey City, N.J. He was a member of the undefeated DUSO Champions of 1963 in football, Port Jervis School District. He was a member of the TCU Union with the railroad and a member of the American Legion Post #685, Port Jervis. He was also a member of several baseball and softball teams and coached for many years at Hollidaysburg, Pa.
Survivors include his son, Lance Quick and his wife, Carol, of Pasadena, Md.; daughter, Heather Quick, and her companion, Shannon May, of Bellwood, Pa.; longtime companion, June Garcia O’Donnell, at home; grandchildren, Savannah, Daryn, Lainey and Jayce; nephews, Joseph and James Kraycer ;and several cousins.
He was pre-deceased by his sisters Sandra Quick and Evaline Kraycer; and grandsons Dalton and Dawson.
A family statement says: "Jim and his family would like to send a special thank you to numerous people who touched his life and were dear friends throughout his life including two very special people, Erin and Shaun."
Services will be private. Arrangements are by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis.
