John R. Lenihan
John R. Lenihan of West Milford, N.J., formerly of Warwick, N.Y., died on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Joe Raso Hospice in New City. He was 74.
Born Nov. 14, 1941, in New York City, he was the son of John R. and Helen (Zuckerman) Lenihan.
He was married for 51 years to Faith (Beattie) Lenihan.
He was formerly a teacher at Clark Junior High School in the South Bronx for many years and then was a Guidance Counselor with the Monroe-Woodbury School system.
He served with the volunteer ambulance in Dingmans Ferry, Pa., and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Dingmans Ferry, Pa.
A former parishioner of St. Stephens Church in Warwick, he was currently a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace in West Milford.
He is survived by his wife, Faith; his children: John Lenihan and his wife Gwynneth of Montgomery, James Lenihan and his wife Kathy of Congers and Kerry Harrison and her husband Chris of Montgomery; seven grandchildren: Andrew, Meaghan, Patrick and Kiera and Lenihan, Anthony and Michael Cally, and Sean Lenihan.
He is also survived by a brother, Richard Lenihan and his wife Arlene of Roselle, N.J.; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Derella and a brother, Hugh Lenihan.
Visitation was held Feb. 4 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Warwick. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Stephen Church, Warwick, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
