Joseph V. Brady

Joseph V. Brady of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., a retired police officer for the New York Police Department and a longtime area resident, died on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y. He was 72.
Son of the late Joseph V. and Virginia Cangro Brady, he was born on Aug. 11, 1944, in Staten Island.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was member of the Emerald Society in the NYC Police Department and a member of Holy Rosary Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Brady, at home; children, Kathleen Brady and her companion, David Straub, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; Joseph Brady and his wife, Sara, of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., and Patrick Brady and his wife, Elizabeth, of Florida, N.Y.; grandchildren, Lillian, Lita, Patrick, Sophia, John, Cecilia, and Victoria; sister, Virginia Brady of Staten Island; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandson Tyler.
Visitation was held Dec. 21, at Strong-Basile Funeral Home in Greenwood Lake. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 22 at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lak. Burial followed at Orange County Veteran's Cemetery in Goshen, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or Holy Rosary Church.
