Joyce Hedgelon McKean
Joyce Hedgelon McKean, a lifelong resident of Shohola, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, in Naples, Florida. She was 86.
Daughter of the late George and Eva (Gregory) Hedgelon, she was born on June 20, 1930, in Honesdale, Pa.
Joyce loved to do crafts, play bingo and was in a bowling league for many years. She also loved to travel and did so every chance that she had, whether with her husband, her daughters, or her best friend.
Survivors include her five children, Susan McKean of Portland, Pa., James McKean and his wife, Jeanne Bertram McKean, of Barryville, N.Y., Richard McKean and his wife, Sue Eldred McKean, of Highland Lake, N.Y., Jeanne McKean of Marco Island, Fla., and Betty Hallock and her husband, Charlie Hallock, of Barryville, N.Y.; grandchildren, Lucas McKean, Amanda Lewis, Keith Hallock, Kelly Hallock, Jacob McKean, Jimmy Jennings, Jason Jennings, William Hachemeister, Ruthann Hart, and Charles Hachemeister; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Lewis, Maggie McKean, Molly Engle and William Hart; numerous nieces and nephews; and her longtime best friend, Philomae Donovan of Lackawaxen, Pa.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Henry McKean, in June; and by two sisters, Marlene Brown and Johanne Rutledge.
Visitation was held Dec. 11 at Stroyan Funeral Home, Milford, Pa. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Dec. 12 St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Shohola. Burial followed at McKean Valley Cemetery, Shohola.
