Mark Gordon Davis of Port Jervis, N.Y., and a lifetime area resident, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at home with his family by his side. He was 58.
Son of Jack G. Davis and the late Joyce Jeffers Davis, he was born March 7, 1958, in Port Jervis.
He worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years and also worked for Future Homes and Wilder Manufacturing, both in Port Jervis.
A family statement read: "Mark's passion was his family, rock n roll and enjoying outdoor activities. A quote that sums up Mark: 'I’m the one that has to die when it’s time for me to die, so let me live my life, the way I want to.' — Jimi. Peace and Love."
Survivors include his life companion, Olga Zernhelt of Port Jervis; father, Jack G. Davis of Strong, Maine; two sons, Gage Davis and Cale Davis, both of Port Jervis; brother-in-law, Bill Bernhelt and his wife, Deb, of Sparrowbush, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Marysue Moore and her husband, Peter, of Milford, Pa., and Sharon Renninger and her husband, Ed, of Whitehall, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be private. Cremation was at H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
Funeral arrangements are by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Port Jervis.
