Mary (Nastasi) Simonet of Milford
Mary (Nastasi) Simonet of Milford, originally of Nutley, N.J., died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, with her daughter, Nancie by her side. She was 89.
She was cared for by the compassionate nurses and staff of Milford Senior Care for the past five years.
Daughter of the late Matthew and Catherine (Annicchiarico) Nastasi, she was born on Oct. 15, 1925, in Newark, N.J. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Thomas “Augie” Simonet.
Survivors include her son, Charles Simonet of Orange County, Calif.; three daughters, Denise Mihalko of New Bern, N.C., Laurette Simonet of Bridgewater, N.J., and Nancie Simonet-Fouse of Milford; six grandchildren, Robert, Lauren, Morgane, Dustin, Danielle, and Sophia.
She will be remembered as a feisty lady who in her prime loved to cook and never let anyone leave her home with an empty stomach.
After her retirement from administrative work in Elizabeth, N.J., she would be best remembered in Milford behind the cash register at the Waterwheel Café and local Rite-Aid.
Visitation is at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Donald Drewett officiating.
