Rose Leigh Decker

Rose Leigh Decker of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and previously of Matamoras, Pa., passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, at home with her family by her side. She was 75.

Daughter of the late George and Margaret (Weaver) Poyer, she was born on Aug. 26, 1946, in Newton, N.J. She was married to Stephen Decker for 54 wonderful years.

Rose was known for her artistic talents and crafty nature. She always made every holiday and special occasion memorable with her hand made decorations, favors and her famous mayonnaise cake. From “Mickey Mouse” to “Baby Shark” you name it she made it. She spent years decorating cakes at The Polar Bear in Matamoras. Rose loved spending time with her family and having tea parties with her great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Sherry Ann Gross on Dec. 5, 1998.

Rose is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Decker; daughters, JoAnn Featherman and her husband, George Featherman, of Matamoras, Tracy Decker and her fiancé, Kevin Schmick, of Matamoras, and Laura Decker and her fiancé James Cichon of Port Jervis, N.Y.; grandchildren, Miranda, Katie, Kyle, Brandon, Andrea, Tommy, Brittney and Austin; great-grandchildren, Kaia and Kenzie Vanderhoff.

A Receiving of Friends will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, Pa. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with thr Rev. Zachary K. Pearce officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Matamoras Firehouse immediately following services.
