Thomas Anthony Cardinale
U.S. Navy Retired, Chief Petty Officer (SW) Thomas Anthony Cardinale of Lackawaxen, Pa., died on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at home. He was 63.
Over his 20-year distinguished Navy Career he earned the following U.S. Navy Certifications: Fire Marshall/Firefighter Instructor, Gas Free Engineer, Nuclear Reactor Welder 4956, Submarine Repair Certified 9593, and Quality Assurance Supervisor for Submarines and Surface Ships. He was stationed on the USS Holland AS 32, USS Brumby FF 1044, Sub Base New London, USS L.Y. Spear AS 36, USS Emory S. Land, USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN 71 (of which he is a Plank Owner) and Fleet Atlantic Deception Group Atlantic.
Thomas also worked 12 years for The National Park Service at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in Bushkill, Pa. He was a member of Marsch Kellogg American Legion Post #139, Milford, Pa.; Eckert Haupt VFW Post 5635, Lackawaxen, and was Lackawaxen Township Supervisor.
Son of the late Anthony and Ellen Marie (Doerpfeld) Cardinale, he was born July 21, 1953, in Paterson, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen Eileen (Worzel) Cardinale; daughter, Nicole J. (Cardinale) Harrell; two granddaughters, Cherokee and Shae Harrell of Currituck, N.C.; two sons, Sean T. Cardinale and his wife, Angela Cardinale; two grandchildren, Rocco and Sofia Cardinale of Chesapeake, Va., Joseph D. Cardinale of Chesapeake, Vs.; two brothers, Anthony Cardinale of Dingman Township, Pa., and Philip Cardinale of Fogelsville, Pa.; and sister-in-law Patricia Worzel of Lackawaxen, PA..
Visitation was held at Stroyan Funeral Home in Milford on Thursday, Jan. 26. Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Jan. 27, with Carol Cowan officiating. Burial followed in Lackawaxen Cemetery, Lackawaxen with military honors.
