    Thomas J. Egan of Highland Mills, N.Y., died surrounded by his loving family at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, N.Y., on Saturday, March 25, 2017. He was 85.
    Son of the late Thomas J. and Victoria Egan, he was born March 16, 1932, in Brooklyn.
    He graduated from Brandeis University, where he was a star safety and quarterback for the Brandeis Judges, and received his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University. He practiced real estate, estate planning, and municipal law, as well as represented the Towns of Woodbury and Tuxedo. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Monroe and organized the first boys basketball team for Sacred Heart Elementary School.
    Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Phyllis; sons, Thomas and his wife, Lisa ,of Monroe, Conn., Mark and his wife, Amanda, of Hingham, Mass., Christopher and his wife, Jayne, of Milford, Pa.; daughter, Elyse, and her husband, Jeffrey Perry, of Lodi, Calif.; grandchildren, Christina, Thomas, Madeline, Sally, Patricia, Charlotte, and Caroline; sister, Dolores; and brother James.
    He was predeceased by his brother Gerard.
    There will be no visitation. A mass in celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Rd., Monroe, N.Y.
