William Joseph Hoare
William Joseph Hoare of Greeley, Pa., passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was 77.
Son of the late James William and Harriet (Wallace) Hoare he was born July 1, 1944 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was married to Patricia (Donnelly) Hoare on April 12, 1969, in Spring Valley, N.Y.
He was retired as a structural engineer in the SEMAC division of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Bill was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church, Shohola, Pa., a member of the Knights of Columbus and Knights of Columbus Bowling League, Brooklyn, NY and member of the Wyoming Coin Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a Ranger from 1965 to 1967 and in the Army Reserves from 1967 to 1971. He was recently appointed Laird of a small property in Scotland.
Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia; three daughters, Patricia Hoare Greenhalgh of Andover, NJ, Jennifer Hoare of Hackettstown, N.J., and Aimee Hoare Bem of Greeley, Pa.; grandchildren Katy, Harry, Billy, Marcia, Mackenzie, Mary-Kate, Crystal; sister Brenda Hoare Sands; sons-in-laws Harry Greenhalgh and John Bem; many nieces and nephews and his cherished husky, Sierra. He was predeceased by his brother and sister James M. Hoare and Theresa Muriel Hoare
Visitation was held at Stroyan Funeral Home, Milford, on Feb. 9. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Ann’s Church, Shohola, on Feb. 9 with the Rev. Edward Casey officiating. Burial followed in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Shohola, PA with Military Honors.
