Positive parenting workshops
Milford Today, children are faced with tough social challenges. Reports of prescription drug abuse, sexually transmitted disease, teen pregnancy, underage drinking, and more are global problems. While it’s true that growing up has never been easy, it may be truer now, than ever. Parents need to be equipped to do the best job possible to protect their children from negativity. Positive Parenting, a university developed parent education program offers a good assortment of tools and strategies that will benefit parents of infants, toddlers, school age children, and teens. Positive Parenting focuses on parent-child communication, nurturing relationships, setting limits, and respectful discipline practices. This four-session workshop for parents, parent educators, social service agencies, parenting organizations, schools, foster parents, and churches begins Jan. 5, at Penn State Cooperative Extension Pike County, 514 Broad Street, in Milford. Please register by Dec. 28. For more information, call (570) 296-3400 or visit http://pike.extension.psu.edu .
