Robert Dufour of Dingmans Ferry to receive doctorate

— Robert Dufour of Dingmans Ferry is among five candidates to receive doctoral degrees in administration and leadership studies during winter commencement exercises at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU).
Dufour has been superintendent of schools in the Eldred Central School District in Sullivan County, N.Y., since 2010. Originally from Long Island, N.Y., he has lived in Dingmans Ferry since 1997. He has been married to his husband, Charles G. Macias, for 21 years.
He worked in the private sector for 25 years before entering the education field. He started as a substitute teacher in Eldred in 2002 and worked as a special education teacher, CSE/CPSE chair, director of pupil personnel services, director of instructional services and then superintendent of schools. He enjoys reading, golf and traveling.
He will receive his degree on Saturday, Dec. 17, in Koehler Fieldhouse.
The other four candidates are Maureen Kehoe of Nazareth, Pa, the Director of Planning, Research, and Evaluation in the Phillipsburg School District; Carolyn Krotowski of Jackson, Pa., a principal at the Colonial Academy in Wind Gap, Pa.; Melissa J. Brands Martinez of Mount Bethel, Pa., who teaches French in the Bangor Area School District; and William L. Vitulli of East Stroudsburg, a district elementary principal in the East Stroudsburg Area School District.
The three-year doctoral program in the Professional and Secondary Education Department at ESU furthers knowledge, skills and expertise in the area of educational leadership.
