This week: flower power fights cancer

MILFORD — More than 40,000 daffodils will create the “flower power” in Pike County that will help fight cancer during the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days 2010 local fundraising campaign. The dollars raised through donations will save lives by encouraging early diagnosis and finding cures, as well as helping local cancer patients and families fight back. Fresh flowers in a bunch or a vase, potted bulbs, and a “Boyd’s Bear & Bunch,” will be distributed to those who placed advanced orders, and will also be available at Walmart, Grand Union, Shoprite, Shur-Way, Ray and Charles, and several area banks Thursday March 18 through Sunday March 21. You can call 1-570-562-9749 to find additional places where daffodils can be purchased. “Taking home daffodils can not only bring the beauty and hope of spring into your everyday life…” noted Kathy Maida, Pike County’s American Cancer Society Daffodil Days chairperson, “…they can also bring hope to those affected by cancer and provide funding to help reach our goal of eliminating cancer.” Make a difference. Donate to the Pike County American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days 2010. When you give Daffodils, you give hope!
