Walkathon raised $15,000
MILFORD On October 18, the 2nd Annual Milford Fall Walkathon took place. Monies are still coming in but the books are closing this year at $15,000. That means that Susan G. Komen for the Cure, NEPA Affiliate (breast cancer); amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research; and the Milford Musical Legacy (Good Shepherd Church’s organ fund) will each get $5,000. The committee was very pleased and felt this event was very successful especially in light of today’s economic times. There are many people to thank - especially the 131 walkers that helped raise these monies and the 32 sponsors that helped defray the costs of putting on such an event and contributed to the $15,000. Shop Rite of Montague and Perkins of Matamoras were the top sponsors each donating not only money and food but also personnel who were at the event. Shop Rite’s Scrunchy the Bear was a great hit and could be found at all the water stations giving out water and goodies and then later at home base for photographs. Other sponsors to thank are: Simple Kneads Massage Therapy; Milford Magazine; Pike County Power & Light; Bon Secours Community Hospital; NASP; Visualize LLC; Milford Music Center; Alice’s Wonderland, Inc; Warner Paving; Walmart; Weinstein, Schneider, Kannebecker & Lokuta; Woodloch Springs Sports Complex; Luhrs Home Center; Fretta’s; 7th Street Coffee; Everything But the Horse, LLC; Bodies in Balance; Apple Valley Restaurant; Lightseeds Yoga; Citizens Bank of Milford; Beacon of Hope; Pennstar Bank; Catskill Dermatology, P.C.; River Rock Inn; Cliff Park Inn; Peter’s Restaurant; Fratelli’s Family Restaurant; Auto Zone; Countryside Deli; and Grand Union.
