They were tearing apart cars and fingerprinting juveniles in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Oct. 14, but it was all for a good cause. Shirley Montagne, safety coordinator at the Westfall-Milford Wal-Mart, invited volunteers and professionals from local agencies responsible for protecting health and safety, to demonstrate their skills, in recognition of National Fire Safety Week. Those participating included members of the Westfall Fire Department and Ambulance crews, the Port Jervis Fire Department “Rescue 3,” nurses and technicians from Bon Secours Community Hospital, the Westfall Police Department and the Pike Sheriff’s Department. “We wanted to show people all of the things that are available to make them safe,” said Montagne.
