A New Year's gift

The first baby of 2006 born at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, is little Elizabeth Ann Harris, seen here with her mom Patricia and dad Steve Harris. The Bethany couple thought their baby “might” arrive on New Year’s Day, but they were still pleasantly surprised. Elizabeth Ann was born at 9:51 p.m. on Jan. 1, weighing in at exactly nine pounds. Dr. Catalina Dinu, an obstetrician/gynecologist with Women’s Health Care of NEPA, delivered the baby after a long labor by mom. Both mom and baby are healthy and well. According to dad Steve, less than one minute after she was born, his new daughter responded to his call. “She turned her head in my direction! She knew me!” he beamed. The Hospital presented the family with a basket full of goodies for mom and newborn, plus a big round of applause. (Contributed photo)
