DINGMAN — On Friday, May 30, the Gold Key Lake Community, where Lt. Lou Allen and his wife Barbara and their four children resided when he was killed in Iraq, held their Memorial Day Observance. The solemn service was attended by community residents and led in prayer by Pastor Carolyn Walker-Primus. The service was conducted at the memorial monument at the entrance to the community. The monument was erected in honor of Lt. Lou Allen and all those other U.S. servicemen and women that have given their lives for the cause of their country. In the last issue of the Courier, Barbara Allen wrote about her experience. At the Gold Key service a several of the community residents commented on the story, which alleged the murder of Lt. Allen and Capt. Phil Esposito by one of their enlisted soldiers. After three years Staff Sgt. Alberto Martinez has yet to come to trial. Randall Brown “I think the guy is a creep and it is a sad affair. He needs to be held accountable to the full extent of the law but even in the military he is innocent until proven guilty.” Ira Merbaum “I would hope they find him guilty of murder and he receives the full impact of the criminal justice system for what he has done.” Roger DiPeppe ”It’s been going on now for three years and I hope he gets what he deserves.” WWII Vet, Cliff Anderson “The government drags their feet and I wish they would put Martinez where he belongs. I have discussed this with several other vets and we all think he should be hung. Not imprisoned, hung.
