MILFORD — For the second time in her 20-year career, Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Eileen Arenson has joined a federally qualified health center, this time in Pike County. “I enjoy working in public health,” says Arenson. “Contributing to the community is very important to me.” The staff of the Pike County Family Health Center (PFHC), part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers, welcomed Arenson earlier this summer. All the centers are subsidized by federal monies and accept both private insurance and public assistance. They also offer a sliding fee payment scale based on income. A native of Connecticut, Arenson grew up in upstate New York and graduated from the State University of New York at Utica. She went on to earn her certification as both an adult nurse practitioner and a geriatric nurse practitioner at Oregon Health Services University School of Nursing in Portland, Oregon. Arenson moved to northeast Pennsylvania in 2007 with her husband and three children. Her new job doesn’t take her far from her old one. Prior to joining the PFHC, Arenson worked as a registered nurse in Wayne Memorial’s Home Health Department, which has an office in the same building as the PFHC. Arenson and her family live in nearby Hemlock Farms, and she particularly enjoys being part of that community. “The neighbors are great, the children have lots of activities and I feel that this is a very safe community,” she says. Although certified as an adult nurse practitioner, Arenson can see patients as young as 12 years of age. She is currently accepting new patients.
