Barricaded man surrenders to police

    LACKAWAXEN — State police arrested a Masthope man after his wife reported that he shot at her and a man barricaded himself in his home on July 13. Police were called by Masthope Mountain Community security staff at 3:27 p.m., who said they had just been dispatched to a residence where shots had been fired. Resident, Maureen Heeny told security that her husband, Alfred E. Heeny, 63, had just fired a hand gun at her. She fled to a neighbor’s house along with her son. Troopers and state police criminal investigators surrounded the house and made several unsucessful attempts to call into the house. Mrs. Heeny was interviewed and troopers got an arrest warrant for her husband, who was said to be under the influence of numerous controlled substances and armed with several handguns and long guns. She said that he had barricaded several of the doors with chairs. The state police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was called in. They made repeated attempts were made to contact Heeny and after several hours SERT did talk him out of the house. Police said he came out without incident and was taken into custody. Alfred Heeny was charged with Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Heeny was arraigned before Magistrate Stephen McBride and held at the Pike County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.
