Boro wants Pike green
MILFORD n Borough officials on Monday adopted a resolution in support of the county’s $10 million open space and planning bond which will appear on the fall ballot. While they have little undeveloped land left in the borough, Milford officials are concerned that predicted booming growth would impact the county seat. “Expansion could triple our population and bring 150,000 people to the county by 2025,” said Councilman Bill Kiger who moved the resolution. Kiger said 80 percent of the bond money now is slated for open space preservation, providing up to $19 million in value when combined with leveraged state and federal funds. Remaining funds would assist county planners and Kiger noted that no funds would be drawn on the bond until specific projects are outlined. Council President Matthew Osterberg also noted receipt of a $10,000 state grant, which will help fund a joint traffic study with Milford Township. The council also approved a letter to the county commissioners recommending that the completed study become part of the county’s comprehensive plan. In the absence of their regular solicitor John Klemyer, the borough council set aside discussion on clearcutting and stormwater control ordinances Monday night, producing a rare session of less than one hour. They recessed to meet again at 7 p.m. on Oct. 10.
