Borough budget goes up 6.6 mills
Milford To recover this year’s deficit and protect against another, the 2010 borough budget will carry a 6.6 mill tax increase. On average, across all properties, that amounts to a $244 increase on the new tax bills, Treasurer Gregory Myer said. The borough took hits in decreased payments of both current and delinquent taxes, along with sharply reduced Real Estate Transfer Tax revenues, he said. The tax increase also provides for the repayment of a $75,000 loan the borough was forced to take out plus a contingency fund for 2010. Borough President Matt Osterberg said no service cuts were made in the new budget. But cuts of about $4,000 were made in annual donations to area non-profits and the council will work without salaries. The new budget was introduced on Monday night and will be finalized at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 28.
